Arvada and surrounding communities are fortunate to have a fine orchestra performing in their neighborhood! The Evergreen Chamber Orchestra (ECO), in their 38th season, is performing a full series of concerts at Arvada United Methodist Church. For those of you who haven’t yet heard of the ECO, they’re a nonprofit chamber orchestra comprised of 35-40 talented volunteer musicians and a very gifted conductor. As many in their audience frequently exclaim “ECO just keeps getting better and better!”
ECO is performing in Arvada this month and it’s a perfect opportunity to hear the music-making and elegantly informal concerts for which ECO prides itself. ECO’s Fall Masterworks concert at Arvada United Methodist (Saturday, November 16th at 7 pm) features Prokofiev’s Classical Symphony, Barber’s legendary Adagio for Strings, Telemann’s Concerto for Viola in G Major featuring one of ECO’s founders as soloist, and Haydn’s Symphony No. 100 (the “Military”). The uplifting and beautiful music produced by ECO within this wonderful sanctuary has to be heard to be believed!
ECO is known in the foothills for their live, affordable and inspirational musical experiences. ECO’s audience frequently express their amazement at the artistic quality of the orchestra and their appreciation for warm, informally elegant atmosphere of ECO’s concerts. As a long-term audience member recently said “Having a great musical experience is something that does not happen often in one's lifetime. So, I consider myself fortunate to have been sitting in the third row of one of our local churches on that Sunday afternoon a few years ago to hear ECO play Beethoven’s 7th Symphony. I was surrounded and immersed in those wonderful sounds, an experience I will never forget.” ~C. Carcano
ECO’s Music Director William (Bill) Hill is a Colorado musical treasure and multi-talented musician who is obviously having a great time directing this orchestra! Mr. Hill is the Colorado Symphony’s principal timpani player and well known for his incredible skills on the kettledrums. What you may not know is that he is also a world-class composer of both classical music and jazz, and an accomplished jazz musician with his own Grammy-nominated band “Bill Hill and Friends.” Mr. Hill’s love of the music ECO performs and his fondness for the musicians is clearly evident at every ECO concert. A bonus of attending ECO’s concerts are Mr. Hill’s pre-concert chats 30 minutes before each concert.
What better way to hear classical music for the very first time, or perhaps for the thousandth time, than attending a concert performed by an orchestra who plays solely for their love of this incredible music.
Bring your family, friends and neighbors to share the wonder of live classical music and its power to inspire, to comfort, and to bring beauty to our lives. This program, performed by these dedicated musicians and their talented conductor, is sure to enrich your weekend!
