Cemeteries in Colorado are being stripped of their sacred treasures. There is a manhunt for a New York state senator accused of murder. Both criminal investigations lead to a Colorado ski resort.
Author Phil Bayly has followed his popular debut novel, Murder on Skis, with a sequel titled Loving Lucy: A Murder on Skis Mystery.
The thrilling new mystery returns television journalist JC Snow as he tracks a cold case. The path may lead him to a cold-blooded killer hiding in Colorado’s snow country.
But JC’s relentless pursuit of the story also leads to concerns that his love life is not bulletproof.
Even if a reader has never put on a pair of skis or a snowboard, they will experience the rustic beauty of a ski resort, the entertaining après ski and the urgency to catch the killer.
Loving Lucy has earned a five-star review from RCXcellent Adventures. Rick Cobello wrote, "It's good to the last drop!" Yeah, folks do a lot of serious thinking over coffee.
Murder on Skis received a five-star review from Readers’ Favorite. Trudi LoPreto wrote, “Murder on Skis by Phil Bayly is much more than a story about skiing… Murder on Skis is a must-read for all fans of a good mystery book.”
Bayly is a former television and radio journalist. He worked in Colorado, Wyoming, Pennsylvania, and New York. He was the popular anchor of the top-ranked morning news program in the state capital of New York, Albany.
“I covered presidents, political campaigns and street crime during the course of my career as a journalist,” Bayly says. “Loving Lucy is based on events I actually reported on. Of course, I can allow my imagination to tell an even better story when I’m writing fiction.”
Bayly is a life-long skier and was a long-time ski racer at the masters-level. “Anyone who enjoys a murder mystery will like this book. But if you have a passion for winter, you can imagine yourself in this story,” he says.
“Skiers and snowboarders have a zest for life,” Bayly asserts. “They’re a smart bunch and they like to read, but there isn’t really much for them to choose from. I’m trying to fill that gap.”
The novel, published by Shires Press, is set at a fictional ski area called Snow Hat in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains. Clues lead JC Snow to Denver, Fort Collins, Loveland and Upstate New York.
Bayly is a graduate of Colorado State University. He was born and raised in Evanston, Ill. He now lives in Saratoga County in New York.
