Koa House is a Hawaiian infused boutique spa specializing in Lomi Lomi massage, located in Littleton CO. But even more unique, is that they are aligned with a full martial arts gym under a single roof and unified program: The First "Martial Spa".
Founder Brent Kekoa Ramos mentions: "The end goal is to transform wellness & empowerment into a conscious journey, that all backgrounds and abilities can enjoy". Being a lifelong martial artist, turned healer he expands: “Aside from just the luxurious massages, we really aim to provide space for people to anchor that healing to a sense of empowerment, which is forged under the lens of our martial arts offering. Plus, you will get in amazing shape, and only need to walk a few feet to soothe away those training aches.
This husband/wife duo spent the last 8 years in San Francisco running their highly successful "punk rock kung fu" school in Chinatown called: 108. After a few years of sold-out classes, they decided to move back to Colorado and expand. You can find them both either leading classes, or giving luxurious massages daily.
Founder, Barbara M.J. Ramos continues: "We started training Lomi Lomi due to Brent’s family roots in Lahaina, and just an overall interest in seeking our personal martial mastery, in which healing is a pillar. One day while training in Maui, we realized that both martial & wellness disciplines are two-sides of the same coin that everyone carries: Both seeking to expand health & personal empowerment. But the problem is, no one addresses or presents them holistically together. This fusion is where Hawaiian thought actually begins, and is where predictive happiness can ultimately be uncovered... We try to spark this at every moment in your experience whether on the table, on the mat's, or just hanging out in our space".
The space itself is custom designed to replicate walking into the forests of Maui, and healing or training amidst the trees. It was a former bank vault that is now totally re-designed, residing just minutes east of Historic Downtown Littleton. The matted gym feels more like a modern spa vibe than the usual gym decor, yet boasts a legit program of Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Kung Fu, Tai Chi, and Yoga all centered around community with intensity levels to suit any palate.
As for the massages, you will melt away and transport immediately to Hawaii: "We are 100% Lomi Lomi. Meaning, we did not learn Swedish, or any other modality. Everything we do, comes straight from our Hawaiian lineage alone. Not only the style, but Hawaiian methodology like our opening and closing chants, protocol for sourcing plant based products, healing methodology, decor, and even our approach to teaching in the martial arts classes".
Looking to soothe? The spa menu includes something for everyone. Try starting with the Signature Lomi Lomi, which is great for your first time. But expanded services include a sports version with an assisted stretch session, or a luxurious hot stone massage, pre & post natal massage, and the very rare Hawaiian Back Walking for deep work. Of course, there are enhancements at every step with their incredible Hawaiian sourced spa products, which they will go over with you before the session (also available for you to take home.)
Only opened for 3 months here in Littleton, Koa House is garnering raving reviews and attention quick. Make sure to get in at their opening rates. They offer a week for free trial classes, and highly discounted massages if it is your first time.
