Last year, FirstBank, Colorado’s largest locally owned bank launched “Giving for Good,” a campaign to support local nonprofits in Carbondale, Colo. This year, the bank is back with a month of initiatives aimed at raising much-needed funds for local organizations. All month long, FirstBank will be partnering with two Carbondale eateries, Carbondale Creamery and Café and Dos Gringos Burritos to raise funds for local Roaring Fork Valley nonprofit, Stepping Stones.
For each croissant or latte purchased from the Creamery, or burrito purchased from Dos Gringos, FirstBank will donate $5 to the local nonprofit, up to $10,000.
Stepping Stones is a community-based youth mentoring program that operates drop-in centers for youth and young adults in the Roaring Fork Valley. Their mission is to cultivate strong mentoring relationships and community spaces for youth ages 10-21 to foster personal growth, compassion, and responsibility.
“FirstBank’s gift will transform hundreds of young lives over the next decade,” said Kyle Crawley, Executive Director at Stepping Stones. “Our current footprint creates the necessary opportunities for youth to achieve personal growth that can positively alter life’s trajectory. That impact will be magnified in our new facility, and we’re grateful for this generous contribution.”
The funds raised will go to a capital campaign to help fund renovations to their youth center. The new facility will include a wellness center to improve youth’s social, emotional, mental, and physical health, and a large kitchen, capable of preparing hot meals to nourish participants.
“Supporting Stepping Stones’ mission of youth empowerment is a priority of ours for many reasons, most notably because we see the positive impact they have up and down the Valley,” said Dave Portman, FirstBank Roaring Fork Valley Market President. “We’re thrilled to help with the organization’s expansion, and support their continued efforts to provide additional resources for the youth in this community.”
Engaging the communities it serves is an ongoing FirstBank commitment. Community members can join FirstBank in supporting an important local effort – and Carbondale small businesses – by visiting Dos Gringos or the Creamery in October. This offer is only valid from Oct. 1-31, 2020. For more information go to efirstbankblog.com/givingforgood.
