(Parker, CO) For the second year in a row, a gymnast from 20 Mile Athletic Center in Parker will be competing at the National Championships for gymnastics. Gavin Robey of Centennial will represent the four-state Rocky Mountain region at the upcoming Men's Junior Olympic National Championships in Nevada. Robey qualified to compete at Nationals after his outstanding performance at the recent USA Gymnastics Regional gymnastics competition.
Top gymnasts from Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming and Utah competed at the Region 9 Men’s gymnastics tournament in Lafayette, Colorado on April 5-7, where Robey’s high scores earned him an invitation to the 2019 Men's Junior Olympic National Championships in Reno, Nevada. 20 Mile Athletic Center men’s team coach Kyle Turner said, "It’s extremely difficult to qualify to Nationals from Region 9. Gavin's perseverance and ability to hit routines in competition have been tremendous. I am excited to see what he does this year against USA's best."
Robey will be vying for a National title with more than 200 Level 10 gymnasts from across the United States. The USAG’s Men's Junior Olympic National Championships will see more than 700 elite gymnasts representing all 50 states competing for top honors in Levels 8, 9 and 10. Events include Vault, Parallel Bars, Horizontal Bar, Floor Exercise, Pommel Horse and Still Rings.
