Lafayette 148 New York will present the Spring 2024 Collection at the 46th Annual Brass Ring Luncheon & Fashion Show benefiting The Guild of the Children’s Diabetes Foundation. The fundraising event and premier fashion show in Denver will be held on Thursday, March 21st, at 10:00 am at the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel. The luncheon will honor this year's type 1 heroes, named "Slover's Heroes," in tribute to the late Dr. Robert Slover and his valuable contributions as a clinical investigator and advocate to the diabetes community on a global level.
Founded in 1996 in the heart of SoHo, Lafayette 148 New York is a modern American luxury House fusing an understated aesthetic with the dynamism unique to New York City. Creative Director Emily Smith’s art-centric approach is built on a dedication to impeccable craft, exquisite fabrics, and intelligent designs for women.
Attendees can join the fundraising festivities, bidding on various items and experiences through the silent and live auctions – including legendary gift baskets created exclusively for The Guild, mystery bottles of wine from the Wine Pull, and gift cards from local restaurants in the Dine ‘n’ Dash. Additionally, attendees can shop for pre-loved jewelry and handbags from Jewels for Hope and Handbags for Hope.
This year’s Brass Ring emcee is CBS News Colorado Anchor Michael Spencer. Before joining CBS in Colorado, Michael graduated from the University of Missouri and started broadcasting in Midland, Texas, covering Friday Night Lights. After moving to Amarillo, Texas, and then Knoxville, Tennessee, Michael landed in Colorado as a Sports Anchor at CBS News in 2016. Since then, he’s covered the Super Bowl – including the Denver Broncos Super Bowl 50 win and their celebration at The White House with President Obama – the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the Colorado Avalanche run to the Stanley Cup Final, and most recently, the Denver Nuggets NBA Final win in 2023. In addition to his role with the Children’s Diabetes Foundation (CDF) and serving as emcee for the Donor Alliance Donor Dash for several years, he loves being involved with non-profits that make a difference in the lives of Colorado families. You can catch Michael Spencer anchoring CBS News Colorado at five, six, and ten every weeknight alongside his co-anchor Karen Leigh.
This year's event Co-Chairs of the Brass Ring Luncheon are Carol Hamer and Amie Morozs. Carol, who also Co-Chaired last year’s luncheon, says, “The Brass Ring Luncheon is a favorite event of mine every year. The opportunity to interact with the individuals and their families who live with type 1 diabetes every day and feel their strength is amazing!”
Carol Hamer, Event Co-Chair
Carol Hamer is a Colorado native who lives in Lakewood with her husband of nearly 40 years, Steve. They have eight children and seven grandchildren. Though her involvement in the type 1 community began early on with the diagnosis of a relative, Carol has been more intently involved since 2005 when her niece was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Carol has been and is currently involved in many charitable organizations, including the Children’s Diabetes Foundation, several Catholic Church organizations, and Mullen High School. She has served as the Hospitality Chair, Corresponding Secretary, and Co-Chair of the Brass Ring Luncheon. She will be the 2024 Treasurer-Elect for The Guild of the Children’s Diabetes Foundation.
Amie Morozs, Event Co-Chair
Amie Morozs is often described as energetic. She is known to friends and family for her need to keep moving. Whether it be her dedication to her business, countless volunteer hours, hosting events, or advocating for teens, she prefers her days with no spare time. Fourteen years ago, her daughter met a friend in preschool who had been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at only eighteen months old. Within a few years, that circle of friends in their lives with type 1 grew to be seven children and a handful of adults. Amie strives to give equal attention to the organizations that have become near and dear to her heart; the Children’s Diabetes Foundation is one of those. She is honored to Co-Chair this year’s Brass Ring Luncheon.
The venue partner of this year’s Brass Ring Luncheon is the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel.
