The Action Center distributes thousands of Thanksgiving food boxes to families in need
The Action Center in partnership with Physician Health Partners and Colorado Community Health Alliance distributed 2,100 Thanksgiving food baskets to families in need on Sunday, November 19.
Employees at Physician Health Partners donated $20,000 and more than 350 volunteer hours to make this event possible. Boxes included a gift card for a turkey or ham and supplies for all the trimmings of a Thanksgiving dinner: stuffing, gravy, canned vegetables, potatoes, yams, dessert and more.
“Serving our community is a critical part our mission,” said Ken Nielsen, president and chief executive officer, Physician Health Partners. “We are honored to support The Action Center and are proud of our employees who embrace our mission and continue to support the communities we serve.”
“For many participants, the thought of providing a warm Thanksgiving meal for their family can be overwhelming,” says Barbara Penning, director, In-kind Donations and Volunteer Programs. “Through the generosity of the community and partnerships like Physician Health Partners and the Colorado Community Health Alliance, The Action Center will be able to ensure that thousands of households will have a wonderful Thanksgiving experience.”
