DENVER, COLORADO, September 3, 2017 — The Senior Hub will honor the efforts of its volunteer corps at the upcoming Silver Screen & Gold Stars Volunteer Tribute on Sunday, September 3, 2017, to be held at the Denver Mart Drive In. Festivities will include a Volunteer Tribute and Awards Ceremony at 6:30 p.m., to be followed by a double feature drive-in movie screening at 8 p.m. The public is invited to bring their families, celebrate our community heroes, and take a step back in time at the drive-in theater.
The Senior Hub is delighted to commemorate its volunteers with this special event: “The Senior Hub could not serve the community as well as we do without our valued volunteers,” explains Renee Dees, the agency’s Development and Community Relations Director. In the past year alone, The Senior Hub’s team of over six hundred volunteers has provided more than 115,000 hours of service to the north and east metro Denver communities. Whether delivering Meals on Wheels to housebound elders, helping in food banks, knitting lap blankets for veterans’ homes, or providing support in other non-profit settings, these dedicated volunteers are an invaluable asset to both The Senior Hub and the greater community.
Tickets to the Silver Screen & Gold Stars Volunteer Tribute may be purchased through the Denver Mart Drive In website for $8 per person with the discount code HUB (www.denvermartdrivein.com). Tickets may also be purchased from The Senior Hub main office (303-426-4408). Admission includes two feature-length drive-in movies. Drive In guests may sit in their cars during the films; if preferred, limited seating is available close to the screen. Guests may also bring lawn chairs. The Mart broadcasts the film soundtracks on FM 89.9; guests will need a working car radio or boom box. More information is available at www.seniorhub.org/silver-screen-gold-stars.
