Saso Brand Sauces & Marinades
Nothing's "so-so" with SaSo. It's what you've been waiting for and what you've been missing on your food. SaSo is so intense, but smooth and something a bit different. It's not like other sauces or marinades. These unique sauces are all handmade in small batches to give them a wonderful flavor.
Founder, Matthew Brennan was born in Chicago and grew up in Texas. He attended TCU and spent free time working in restaurants. He learned food prep, flavor combination and presentation. After graduation he lived in New York City, San Francisco and Houston. From these experiences he gained insight into some of the best culinary techniques.
In 2008 Matthew was given an 80 year-old secret hot sauce recipe from his wifeâs family. The recipe was the inspiration for SaSo's Chile Pequin Hot Sauce. He reinterpreted it adding his own ideas and ingredients. In 2009 Matthew and his wife moved to Denver. There the Hatch chillies that were so readily available became the starring ingredient and SaSoâs Three-Pepper Tomatillo was born. SaSo was officially launched in 2011. Matthewâs Texas upbringing, years in northern California, living in New York City, plus global travels influence his culinary approach.
The SaSo collection includes Chile Pequin, Roasted Three-Pepper Tomatillo and Roasted Red Pepper Chipotle. Chile Pequin is a combination of chile pequins imported from Nuevo Leon, Mexico, extra virgin olive oil, garlic, red onion and other signature flavors blended together for an unmatched hot sauce. The Roasted Three-Pepper Tomatillo Hot Sauce has tomatillo, Serrano jalapeno and Hatch chiles that are roasted to accentuate and intensify, giving a unique combination of sharp tanginess and rustic flavors. SaSoâs Roasted Red-Pepper Chipotle Sauce combines roasted red-peppers imported from Turkey, chipotle pepper, garlic and other signature flavors blended together for a perfect balance of smoky and sweet.
SaSo has been awarded many honors including Westwordâ'sT op Thirty Porn Pics, from the Fancy Food Show in San Francisco, Central Market's 'Thrill of the Grill' competition in Texas twice in 2012, and the Three-Pepper Tomatillo Hot Sauce was highlighted in the 10th Annual Hatch Chile Fest.
