When you walk into Rooney Ranch Elementary on Saturday, December 2, you will be greeted by scores of smiling children offering high-quality, homemade products. The students work for weeks to design their own "businesses," creating unique goods that range from bath and body products to holiday ornaments to jewelry to baked goods to meals. You can find great gifts while enjoying a delicious lunch of pulled pork sandwiches, breakfast burritos, or meatballs. Most importantly, you will support our local students in learning business skills and assist local families - a part of the Market proceeds are donated to area families in need.
"It's a win-win-win event," said Market organizer, Tracy Ingram. "Attendees get first-rate homemade gifts for the holidays, the kids have a great learning experience, and area families in need get some extra help. And everyone has a lot of fun."
The Holiday Market takes place Saturday, December 2nd from 9:30am to 1:00pm at Rooney Ranch Elementary, 2200 S. Coors St., Lakewood. This fun family event teaches students business basics, hones their math skills, and promotes their entrepreneurial spirit. Additionally, they learn the importance of giving back to their community.
"It's a great event, my second grader will participate for a third time this year," said Rooney dad, Brian Neff. "She's grown in her ability to present herself and talk to people, and has learned the importance of budgeting and the math aspect of her 'business'. It's a great experience for her and the other kids."
