Since the 1980’s, the Northglenn/Thornton Rotary Club has awarded deserving high school graduates with scholarships that honor not only their academic proficiency, but their leadership and career goals. Once again this year, this local Rotary club provided six $2000 scholarships to students in Adams 12 and Mapleton School Districts.
The scholarship is named in honor of the memory of Pete Vaughan, a longtime Rotarian in the club who advocated for providing environments and programs to help our local youth develop leadership skills and succeed in understanding the importance of community involvement. The scholarship rewards those kinds of students who demonstrate these characteristics.
This year’s recipients are:
Thornton High School: Max Wilkins and Andrew Dutch
Northglenn High School STEM: Savannah Babish and Frederick Coleman
Mapleton Early College: Brandon Lujan and Charmie Vang
The Northglenn/Thornton Rotary Club funds these scholarships through it’s annual Duck Race, held in conjunction with the City of Northglenn’s 4th of July Festival. This will be the 9th year for the event, and tickets can be purchased through the club’s website www.northglennthorntonrotary.com
