We will share a PowerPoint with the highlights of our new school and then answer questions. Please invite your friends and family!
DCSD has invited the ASI Development Team to resubmit our K-12 STEM-focused charter school application on March 15, 2017. We are encouraged by the interest and support from parents, business and industry stakeholders, political policy makers and higher education leaders. Please contact us if you or your business would like to submit a Letter of Support to include in the charter application.
The Founders of the STEM School and Academy, Barry and Judy Brannberg, have been invited by Douglas County School District to resubmit their Alexandria School of Innovation charter application for a K-12 STEM-focused charter school, on March 15.
Alexandria School of Innovation (ASI) is a publicly funded, tuition-free, choice option school. Students from all school districts, from Pre-K through Grade 12 are welcome to sign a non-binding Letter of Intent by clicking on the ASI website at: alexandriak12.org/enroll
These non-binding Letters of Intent are vital to the March 15, 2017 application because it demonstrates interest. ASI is slated to open August of 2018 at a location in Highlands Ranch, to be determined.
ASI is founded on the belief that family and community partnerships are essential for the success of the school's students and this is what makes ASI unique.
Parents play a vital role in the success of their student. ASI partners with parents to provide the best educational experience for the student.
Business and Industry partnerships are relevant to the success of students. ASI students will engage with real world projects from today's business community.
Higher Education exposure in middle school and high school is proven to assist students with a seamless transition to college. ASI connects their students to Colorado School of Mines, DU, CU, CSU, UCCS, ACC, and others through their partnerships with these universities and with their real-world projects in their after-school Innovation Center Research Labs and Incubators.
“We are thrilled to finish many of the critical design elements, including the Research Labs/Incubators sponsored by business and industry together with collaborators from higher education, that were never completed in our first charter school project,” said Judy Brannberg. “We are in the process of enlisting partnerships from parents, higher education, and business and industry. We are eager to bring the project to fruition.”
The school is named after Alexandria, Egypt, founded by Alexander the Great, and once the largest and most prosperous city in the world. Alexandria was a magnet for scholars, scientists, philosophers, mathematicians, artists and historians.
The Lighthouse at Alexandria was an engineering marvel that literally made Alexandria a beacon on the horizon for sailors, business tradesmen, and scholars alike. The Lighthouse of Alexandria was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World built on the Island of Pharos.
“The achievements of Alexandria of antiquity have inspired leaders in society for millennia,” according to the 2016 DCSD graduate, National Merit Scholar, and former first-year student of STEM School and Academy who named the Alexandria School of Innovation. “I believe there could not be a better-suited name for a new school to shape tomorrow's leaders."
Barry and Judy Brannberg are taking the challenge from DCSD seriously and are excited to inspire tomorrow’s leaders. They are looking forward to the DCSD partnership.
Please visit the Alexandria School of Innovation website at alexandriak12.org to sign a non-binding Letter of Intent. Stay tuned for more information regarding Parents and Community Stakeholders Information Meetings.
