Larkspur CO -- The Board of Directors of the Larkspur Fire Protection District has named Tim McCawley to be the new Chief of the Department starting Monday, November 27, 2023. McCawley was previously the Assistant Chief of the Bennett Fire Protection District in Bennett, Colorado. “We look forward to Chief McCawley leading the department and continuing to improve the services we provide to the citizens of the district,” said Rodger Greer, the Chairman of the Larkspur Fire Protection District Board of Directors. McCawley is a 23-year veteran of the fire service. Chief McCawley has a master’s degree in public administration / emergency management, and he possesses certifications as a Paramedic, Fire Officer III, and Hazardous Material Technician. After successfully completing several challenging credentialling processes, Chief McCawley has also been designated by the Center for Public Safety Excellence as a Chief Fire Officer, Chief Emergency Services Officer, and Chief Training Officer.
McCawley replaces former Chief Stuart Mills who announced his retirement earlier this year after 24 years of combined service with Larkspur. Division Chief Charles Walden has been serving as Acting Chief in the interim. “We appreciate Chief Walden stepping up to serve the employees and the district during our search for a permanent chief,” said Greer. The Larkspur Fire Protection District serves 110 square miles in Douglas County with a combination of full-time, professional firefighters and firefighter/paramedics, supplemented by part-time and volunteer firefighters.
