The group of 8 & 9 year old's have decided to raise a hefty $4 Thousand Dollars in just 2 weeks to give to homeless families living in our community.
Forget your traditional homework assignments, for the next 14 days these kids will be spending their afternoons helping neighbors rake leaves, walk dogs...one student has even offered to play Christmas music on her portable keyboard at a nearby hospital....all to earn money to help local families in need.
Along with learning the positive effects of giving, kids will also be learning real life math.
Students have planned a school-wide bake sale for Wednesday, December 13th. All of the money raised, will be donated to the project.
The two weeks will culminate with an after-school shopping trip where students will get to purchase, with their earnings, a holiday meal & Christmas presents for every family living at the Crisis Center of Castle Rock.
Finally, an awesome story of how kids are learning real world economics and civics...but more importantly, the life lesson of being active citizens.
