Himmelman Construction Completes Renovation of Harvest Bible Chapel
April 25, 2017 1:35 PM Mountain Daylight Time
LAKEWOOD, Colorado -- Himmelman Construction, Inc. (Himmelman), a privately held commercial General Contractor headquartered in Lakewood, Colorado, announced today the completion of the renovation of Harvest Bible Chapel, an Englewood worship facility located at 3651 South Colorado Boulevard. An additional satellite campus is located in Broomfield. Facility development and strategic planning expertise was provided by Church Facility Solutions, LLC (CFS), a church real estate and facility development services firm headquartered in Denver. Design services were provided by Denver-based Hord Coplan Macht Architects. Weekend services commenced in the newly renovated worship center Saturday, April 8, with a dedication prayer service on Sunday, April 9.
Valued at $1.1 million and constructed within a 3-month accelerated schedule, this project was a 23,500 square foot interior renovation of Harvest Bible Chapel’s worship center, lobby, lobby ceiling, and coffee bar. Elements included new sealed concrete flooring, carpet, paint, window shades, replacement of pews with 1,330 theater style fixed seats, and a new state-of-the-art sound system. High-end finishes included 2,000 square feet of reclaimed European teak wood walls and acoustical wall fabric for sound absorption. Because this was an acoustically designed space, an additional $850,000 was earmarked by the Chapel for audio, video, and lighting (AVL) equipment.
“As one of Colorado’s leading faith-based builders and a CM/GC firm that focuses on community-based projects, including worship facilities of all denominations, we appreciate opportunities where we can have a positive impact on those in the business of doing good deeds,” said Josh Hill, Himmelman Senior Project Manger. “And it’s always a particular source of pride to be able to deliver a finished product successfully while a facility is fully occupied and under an accelerated completion schedule,” Hill concluded.
Founded in Chicago in 1988, Harvest Bible Chapel has grown into a healthy, functioning fellowship of over 13,000 individuals. In 2000, Harvest Bible Fellowship launched a church-planting initiative that has led to a growing number of churches throughout the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Romania, and Liberia.
“Harvest Denver’s vision has been to launch ten active sites across the Denver metropolitan area, with the ability to record live worship services and then transmit them to all locations simultaneously. This ambitious vision came with the realization that the church needed to upgrade its AVL system at its main Englewood campus,” said Drew Kraft, CFS Principal and an active Harvest Bible Chapel parishioner. “This project grew from structural modifications to accommodate a new sound system and reconfiguring the church stage to a full blown interior renovation of the worship center and lobby, with significant fluctuation in scope along the way,” Kraft added.
