Early in 2016, a group of members from Zion Lutheran Church in the fast-growing town of Wellington, Colorado, began to meet as a “Long-Range Planning Committee,” charged with considering ways to more effectively address their mission. At the heart of it all was a strong commitment to serving their community, and a brainstorming session produced a long list of possibilities. The initial thought was to seek to pursue one or two of the prospective ideas, but a little more than a year later a vision for something much larger has developed, with the goal of initially addressing three critical needs: (more in the future as opportunities arise)
+ Affordable Housing + Affordable Child Care + Senior Housing & Care
“Grace Village, Wellington” was established in November of 2016 as a separate non-profit corporation whose stated goal is as follows: “To establish Grace Village as the premier provider of intergenerational faith-based service ministries addressing the needs of our community for the mind, body and spirit in the areas of child care, adult care, education, post foster youth programs, independent living, affordable housing, assisted care living, skilled care nursing and spiritual growth and guidance as well as other such services as shall be determined from time to time by the Board of Directors.”
A contract on a beautiful 48-acre property on the western edge of Wellington is nearing finalization, and a plat has been developed for what promises to be a unique campus where people of all ages will be cared for in a grace-centered Christian environment.
