Golden, CO, October 9, 2017– The City of Golden has been designated as an official RRCA Runner Friendly Community by the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA). The Golden based Foothills Running & Cycling Club (FRCC) submitted an application to the RRCA in the fall of 2016 after spending many months compiling all of the information required by the RRCA; including letters of reference from city leaders, local businesses and the club president. FRCC also submitted a video with the application which showed highlights of why Golden deserves the Runner Friendly City designation.
The following notice of the official designation was sent to FRCC on August 3, 2017:
“On behalf of the RRCA, I would like to congratulate Golden on being named one of our Summer 2017 Runner Friendly Communities. Your application was strong and indicated that your community meets all the criteria that the RRCA looks for in bestowing this designation.
We are planning a press release and more formal public announcement of all the winners later today, but we wanted to make sure to give you a heads up. We have ordered an official customized plaque for you as well, and will be shipping it to you along with a congratulatory letter once it arrives in our office. Feel free to share the news.
Again, my congratulations. Thank you for your support of the RRCA and please let me know if you have any questions.
Road Runners Club of America"
This official designation is a great honor and affirms that Golden is a vibrant and active community with a wide variety of outdoor activities. Golden is really a center of running in the region with an active road and trail running community.
As noted by one of FRCC’s club members:
