Please join us for a free evening of education and entertainment.
The Douglas County Conservation District will be presenting Glenn Ballantyne of Kreativo. Glenn will be talking about the importance of food production and sustainability in the county. The catch phrase “I’m Diggin’ My Doug” is used to encourage and teach 4th grade students to grow, nurture and then harvest the bounty of their vegetable plant named “Doug”. These classes teach students through an emotional connection the importance of sustainability, and growing a garden from seed to table.
In addition to complimentary finger foods, desserts, coffee, and cider, the district will also be recognizing CALF, Colorado Agriculture Leadership Foundation, as the District’s Conservationist of the Year for the education and conservation work they have completed at Lowell Ranch. The District will also recognize and award 2 backyard conservationists for their efforts on sustainability. Jeff Roth from Parker and Douglas Ravnholdt from Parker. Trish Leone, a Colorado Rancher, will talk about how leased land on 40 plus acre parcels in Douglas County are used to practice rotational grazing for proper grazing management and how the landowners benefit by receiving Agricultural Status. Door prizes will be given throughout the evening.
