Enjoy Chocolate, Cherries and Wine, at a special Alameda West Kiwanis Club fundraiser planned to help support the building of a playscape at Bear Creek Lake Park. This event planned Wednesday June 21 and will support efforts to help children enjoy the outdoors by raising money for an innovative play area at Bear Creek Lake Park.
The fundraiser event is planned at Colorado Auto Dealers Association, 290 East Speer Blvd, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tickets are $35 a person and can be purchased at EventBrite https://www.eventbrite.com/e/chocolate-cherries-and-wine-tickets-34705887243.
Half the money raised this year by the AWK went toward a stone bear sculpture called the “Cub” which was recently unveiled just outside the Bear Creek Lake Visitors Center. The sculpture is set on a soft surface that makes it safe for children to climb. The playscape area is designed to engage the creative play of children as they experience the outdoors of Colorado. Children will be able to enjoy a flagstone maze, a tall grass forest, sand pits, a willow tunnel, and an agility course made of natural elements like stumps, rocks and boulders. The Alameda West Kiwanis are also volunteering time to help build and prepare the area and are partnering with the City of Lakewood to make the area a reality.
