Tri-County Health Department has opened a new birth and death certificates office in Castle Rock, at 401 South Wilcox Street, located at the southeast corner of Wilcox and Plum Creek Parkway.
A certified copy of a birth certificate is needed for passport applications, many school activities, and to apply for a Social Security Card. Hospital birth certificates with a baby footprint cannot be used as a legal document.
Birth and death certificates are available for any year in any Colorado county. Birth certificates cost $17.75 for the first copy and $10 for each additional copy if ordered at the same time. Death certificates cost $20 for the first copy and $13 for each additional copy if ordered at the same time.
The new office is open Monday-Friday from 8:30-noon and 1:00-4:30. Certificates are issued while-you-wait and typically take about five to ten minutes. For more information call 720-200-1401 or visit www.tchd.org.
