Kian Karp (son of Charles Karp and Raemi Anderson) is graduating from Stanley Lake High School in Westminster. While in high school, Kian participated in the Peace Jam Club which was the founding chapter of the “Day Without Hate” movement, and is now recognized nationally by many schools. Day Without Hate celebrates kindness and tolerance for others and promotes these ideas not just for the day but for the entire year.
Kian was an assistant coach to his middle school soccer team and ran his own lawn mowing business during his first few summers of high school. He was a counselor at the Easter Seals Camp in Empire last summer, a camp known nationally for working with physically and mentally disabled individuals. He found this experience to be a life changing experience and realizes how fortunate he is to be living his life. Currently, he is working at Papa Murphey's Pizza as a pizza maker.
Kian plans to attend Front Range Community College for his first two years of college and then transfer to a four-year university to complete a degree. Kian is still undecided in his major but he is interested in the fields of wildlife/biology, business, history, and teaching. This is Kian's first Boulder Scientific Company Scholarship.
