In the 1990s the bicycle recycle program began saving and repairing used bicycles and making them available to people needing a bike. Today the program’s customers include people who are struggling to make ends meet, students, veterans, families, and others. Working from the program’s bike shop in Golden, volunteers fix donated bikes and make them available for a modest price--or for free if someone is unable to afford a modest donation. Proceeds are used to purchase bike parts, tools, and equipment for the program, and to cover rent for the bike shop.
