The non-profit organization German Fest will host its annual event at the Lakewood Heritage Center at 801 S. Yarrow St. Lakewood, CO from July 21st to 23rd 2017 to celebrate German-American heritage and culture.
“I’m excited to offer the 10th annual fest for the first time at the prime location of the Lakewood Heritage Center with its beautiful amphitheater,” explains German Denver Fest founder and event organizer Bernie Barthel. He goes on, “The event is a celebration of music and dance to foster a spirit of ethical diversity and ethnic appreciation. The Lakewood Heritage Center is a perfect tie-in with our mission.”
Multiple opportunities will be presented to dance along to traditional Polkas and the famous “Chicken Dance” song. Bands focusing on the “German Gemütlichkeit” include the Rick Borger’s German Band, the Austrian Connection, the Polkanauts, the Jeffco Brass Band, the T.E.V. Edelweiss Schuhplatters and the Polka Mates. Styria Chef Neuhold was asked to provide authentic, mouthwatering German food. Beer from the sponsors Warsteiner and König Ludwig Weissbier will be available in the beergarden. As a family event, children will be entertained with arts, face painting, balloon twisting, soap bubbles and the Colorado Rapids Street Team. Craft vendors with artsy offerings will round up the German traditions.
