Denver CO, March 21, 2017: Parents and students from local high schools in the Denver metro area will gather on March 21, 2017 from 5:00pm-8:30pm at Columbine High school to explore possible military and protective services career opportunities.
Columbine High School partnered with Generation Schools Network along with representatives from each branch of the military as well as members of local protective service education programs. These representatives make this event possible to inform students of post-secondary options other than college. During the event students will explore various possibilities in the different military branches as well as careers in protective services.
The agenda for the day includes:
•Medical Pathways via the Military
•Careers in Protective Services (police, fire, emergency medical services)
Parent Information session provided by Blue Star Mothers
Practice Military Interviews for Enlistment & Academies
“Sometimes students and families do not realize the possibilities that exist in the military. I believe it is important for students to understand they should listen to every opportunity available before they decide this is not for me.” Justin A. Mishler, CPT, EN, Senior Assistant Professor of Military Science.
Other schools invited to participate include: Chatfield High School, Dakota Ridge High School, Conifer High School and Bear Creek High School.
“Generation Schools Network has been privileged to assist Columbine with this event as part of our work to support integration of robust college/career readiness opportunities at schools across Colorado. This event demonstrates an exemplary commitment by Columbine High School to the 20% of students that need knowledge of post-secondary options outside of college.” Wendy Loloff Piersee, CEO, Generation Schools Network.
