The City of Englewood has called the 3400 block of Broadway a "Beautification Project" and here at ReNew Upscale Resale, we love being a part of a new "Broadway Boom" for the community. We are at the ground level of something new and exciting on Broadway, and we are ramping up for the year ahead!
ReNew is located at 3473 S. Broadway, in Englewood. Our building faces Broadway, and is very visible with its green awning and back-lit ReNew sign. Our parking lot will be shared with the now-being-built "Acoma Lofts" building, whose future residents will surely be visiting us. Our building is full of Fabulous Furniture, Fantastic Fine Art and Fanciful Finds, as well as studio rentals, workshops and classes. We are a non-profit business, benefiting the Denver Christian School. In-house with ReNew, we have The Blue Chair, LLC., owned by Jim Thomas. Jim sees through existing furniture's flaws and re-imagines it, creating a new (renewed!) piece of furniture with a brighter life and purpose. He builds new furniture, with a distinct "Colorado" style that is all the rage, now. But where did it all begin?
To answer that question, we'll take a trip down memory lane to discover how this building has come to be ReNew and The Blue Chair. In fact, this particular address has "renewed" itself with many businesses over the years. Look at the photos below - Does any Englewood "Old-Timer" recognize the building that ReNew now occupies? Neilsen's Department store used to occupy two buildings: 3483 and 3473; mens store on one side, women's on the other.
In years following, the wall was removed between the two addresses, and the building became one large building.
In 2011, ReNew Thrift Shop came to occupy the space. August, 2016, ReNew closed its doors for a "faceLift" and a different business model. The Grand Opening in December 2016 saw a partnership with Jim Thomas and The Blue Chair and ushered in a fresh approach with artistically hand-created furniture and artists' works. October 2016 held a Grand Opening for the "Booths on Broadway", an art market in our loft ~ booths rented and filled with an eclectic blend of arts, crafts and unique items. This building is now a renewed ReNew!
