July 30, 2014 – National Flag Football has just announced that their Colorado league has entered into a partnership with the University of Colorado football program. The agreement means that National Flag Football will host their Colorado state championships at the university utilizing CU football facilities and as an added bonus, the relationship calls for all youth flag football participants in Colorado to receive a free ticket to an upcoming CU football game. Francis Meram, Executive Director for National Flag Football announced the partnership and said, “We are very excited to be able to have our players experience the thrill of playing at a major university and we are grateful to the University of Colorado for allowing us this opportunity and for helping us expose young people to the great game of football and all it has to offer.”
The Colorado state championships will be the largest flag football tournament in the state. Games will be played at various CU football facilities with the semi-finals and finals played on Folsom Field, home to the CU Buffalos. The championships will take place at the University of Colorado Boulder campus on November 15 and 16, 2014, just after the end of the leagues’ regular season. All National Flag Football teams who are participating in the state of Colorado will be eligible to play in the championships and registration will open in September 2014 with a $300 per team registration fee. The organizers of the championships expect over 100 teams to register and participate. “The University of Colorado Boulder athletic department is excited to host the National Flag Football State Championship Tournament. This is a great partnership and we are thrilled to provide young kids in the area to come to our campus, be active, have fun, and then come cheer on the Buffs football team to a victory.” Matt Biggers, Chief Marketing Officer, CU Athletics
The second part of the agreement has children and adults alike very excited. The University of Colorado football program has agreed to give everyone who is participating in the National Flag Football – Colorado fall season one free ticket to the November 29, 2014 football game pitting CU against Utah. The tickets will be lower level tickets and parents will be offered discounted tickets to attend the game with their children. Those who attend the game will be able to participate in pre-game on field activities and they will be able to meet the CU team.
